Description:
Basic Laws: Physical properties of fluids, continuum hypothesis, Eulerian and Langrangian descriptions, Reynolds transport theorem, conservation of mass in various coordinate systems. Euler's dynamic equations, boundary surfaces.

Flow kinematics: Analysis of relative motion near a point, velocity distribution for specified rate of expansion and velocity, condition for irrotational solenoidal flows. Flow lines, circulation, velocity, stream and vortex tubes, kinematics of vortex lines.

Ideal-Fluid Flows: Kelvin's theorem, Bernoulli equation,
Two-dimensional flows 0 Stream function, complex potential, sources, sinks, doublets, flow past a circular cylinder, circle theorem, Blasius theorem, method of images, Joukowski transformation, motion around ecliptic cylinder, elements of airfoil theory.

Axisymmetric flows: Stoke's stream function, sources, sinks, doublets, flow past a sphere, Rankine bodies, d'Alembert's paradox.
Surface waves: Surface wave problem, small aplitude approximation, shallow-water theory, travelling and standing waves on interface.
